Honey Bee Sangria

This fiesta of flavor with honey, wine, and fruit is great for dinner or any celebration - Deliciosa!

  • 1 bottle of red wine (750 ml) – A fruity, medium-bodied wine works best, like Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, or Tempranillo.
  • 1/4 cup honey (adjust to taste)
  • 1/4 cup brandy (optional, but it adds a nice depth)
  • 1 orange – thinly sliced
  • 1 lemon – thinly sliced
  • 1 apple – cut into thin wedges (optional)
  • 1/2 cup orange juice (fresh is ideal)
  • 1 cinnamon stick (optional for a spiced flavor)
  • 1-2 cups sparkling water or club soda (for a fizzy touch, add right before serving)

Instructions:

  1. Prepare the fruit: Slice the orange, lemon, and apple into thin wedges or rounds. If you like, you can also add some berries (such as strawberries or raspberries) for extra flavor.
  2. Mix the sangria base: In a large pitcher or bowl, combine the red wine, honey, and brandy (if using). Stir well to dissolve the honey.
  3. Add fruit and juice: Add the sliced fruit and the orange juice to the pitcher. If you're using a cinnamon stick, add it now as well.
  4. Chill: Cover and refrigerate the sangria for at least 4 hours, but ideally overnight. This allows the flavors to meld together.
  5. Serve: Before serving, taste the sangria and adjust the sweetness if necessary by adding more honey. When you're ready to serve, add the sparkling water or club soda to give it a refreshing fizz.
  6. Garnish: Pour the sangria into your Honey Bee Wine Glass over ice, and garnish with extra fruit slices or a sprig of mint if desired.

Tips:

  • Wine Selection: You can use white wine (like Sauvignon Blanc or Pinot Grigio) or Rosé if you prefer a lighter version.
  • Sweetness Adjustments: The amount of honey can be adjusted based on how sweet or dry you want your sangria.
  • Fruits: Feel free to experiment with other fruits like pineapple, berries, or peaches for a unique twist
