This fiesta of flavor with honey, wine, and fruit is great for dinner or any celebration - Deliciosa!
- 1 bottle of red wine (750 ml) – A fruity, medium-bodied wine works best, like Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, or Tempranillo.
- 1/4 cup honey (adjust to taste)
- 1/4 cup brandy (optional, but it adds a nice depth)
- 1 orange – thinly sliced
- 1 lemon – thinly sliced
- 1 apple – cut into thin wedges (optional)
- 1/2 cup orange juice (fresh is ideal)
- 1 cinnamon stick (optional for a spiced flavor)
- 1-2 cups sparkling water or club soda (for a fizzy touch, add right before serving)
Instructions:
- Prepare the fruit: Slice the orange, lemon, and apple into thin wedges or rounds. If you like, you can also add some berries (such as strawberries or raspberries) for extra flavor.
- Mix the sangria base: In a large pitcher or bowl, combine the red wine, honey, and brandy (if using). Stir well to dissolve the honey.
- Add fruit and juice: Add the sliced fruit and the orange juice to the pitcher. If you're using a cinnamon stick, add it now as well.
- Chill: Cover and refrigerate the sangria for at least 4 hours, but ideally overnight. This allows the flavors to meld together.
- Serve: Before serving, taste the sangria and adjust the sweetness if necessary by adding more honey. When you're ready to serve, add the sparkling water or club soda to give it a refreshing fizz.
- Garnish: Pour the sangria into your Honey Bee Wine Glass over ice, and garnish with extra fruit slices or a sprig of mint if desired.
Tips:
- Wine Selection: You can use white wine (like Sauvignon Blanc or Pinot Grigio) or Rosé if you prefer a lighter version.
- Sweetness Adjustments: The amount of honey can be adjusted based on how sweet or dry you want your sangria.
- Fruits: Feel free to experiment with other fruits like pineapple, berries, or peaches for a unique twist
